Xbox elite series 2 halo12/20/2023 ![]() ![]() The axis was working fine and everyone's used to it so why change it? The Elite series 2 is supposed to be an improved model of the controller so it used radical calculations like a circle. It's basically if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'd love for someone to correct me, but this is the best I've been able to come up with. Axis independent is historically how a joystick position has always been calculated though so that's kind of the standard. To me, radial would be the most accurate measurement of a joysticks position. True diagonals I believe would be like an octagon. Axis independent I think is more like a square with an X and Y value. Picture the joystick position calculated inside a circle shape. I believe however that radial calculates the position of the joystick based on the distance from center and the degrees from 0. Higher when I solely use the BR.Īs far as what these settings actually mean, I'd love for Microsoft to put out a detailed explanation or white paper on how they work. I was averaging well over 60% accuracy with the magnum in Halo 5, and I'm mid 50s to 60s most games in Infinite. Aiming did feel a little weird when I switched from the default series x controller, but it didn't take long to get used to it. I use the default radial setting with default sensitivity curves. That's probably because you're used to Axis-independent which is what all Xbox controllers have always been.ĭoes anyone have a preference between the two or heard why they changed to Radial as default? It seems strange to change the thumbstick calculations after so many years and not even tell anyone why or give a heads up. I guess this is also a FYI to anyone who uses this controller and maybe thought it felt weird aiming at first after coming from a different controller. Why would Microsoft change to Radial as the default in the series 2? I can't find any information on it. I did a little research and from what I understand all the original Xbox controllers up to and including the Elite Series 1 used Axis independent controls as default. I recently got the Elite Series 2 controller and I noticed in the Stick settings inside Xbox Accessories you can choose Radial, Axis independent or True Diagonals. This is a controller question but I'd like to post here since I'm using it to play Halo and also for a FYI to those with this controller.
